New escalator and canopy open along Market Street

Powell Street Station now has completely new escalators connecting the concourse to the platform levels. The last of the five escalators at the station opened the first week of April.

Before the end of the month, a platform escalator is expected to open at Embarcadero Station. The project has now completed 18 of the combined 45 platform and street escalators.

The companion project of building canopies over entrances to protect the new escalators is also making progress. A new canopy opened in mid-March at Montgomery Street Station. With construction underway at four canopies, the project has completed 16 canopies.
