Suspect charged in connection with August shooting aboard train in Oakland

BART PD has announced the suspected gunman wanted in connection with a shooting that wounded one person aboard a train between the Fruitvale and Lake Merritt stations on August 26th has been charged with the crimes related to this incident. San Francisco police took 21-year-old Jordan Carter into custody Wednesday morning, October 12 on a non-related case.

BART PD previously arrested Jordan Priestly on September 7, who is accused of assisting the suspect by holding a door on the train open so he could flee the scene. The victim who was shot survived thanks in part to the quick response of BPD officers at Lake Merritt Station who rendered first aid including applying a tourniquet to the victim’s arm and pressure to his leg.

Video captured by surveillance cameras aboard the incident train served an important role in identifying the suspect. BART has a network of more than 4,000 working cameras on trains, in stations, and in parking structures. Images from these cameras have been essential in identifying suspects in multiple cases.
