New shared electronic scooters are now available throughout the city of Berkeley and BART has made it easier than ever for riders to use the dockless scooters to connect to BART.

Micromobility provider Superpedestrian has rolled out 250 permitted LINK scooters throughout the city of Berkeley and BART is allowing the scooters to be locked outside of Berkeley BART stations for quick and easy access.

Scooters are a fun and environmentally friendly way to get to and from BART and can be used as part of a work commute or a day out exploring. Riders can easily plan BART plus scooter trips in Berkeley using BART’s multi-modal Trip Planner on bart.gov and the official BART app. Trip Planner results show real-time availability of the LINK scooters with a map to make them easy to find and a direct link to book the scooter. Itinerary results include door-to-door, turn-by-turn directions, and the amount of time it will take to complete the full trip, highlighting when using a scooter is faster than walking or driving.

Embracing e-scooters is part of BART’s pandemic recovery plan to get more riders back on transit, especially for discretionary trips not associated with a work commute. Berkeley offers renowned restaurants, arts, culture, and shops, all located a short or medium distance from BART stations. Pairing BART and LINK scooters in Berkeley is ideal for those navigating busy streets with limited parking.

BART’s multi-modal Trip Planner also shows real time scooter availability in San Francisco, Oakland, Fremont. Shared electric scooters are not allowed inside the free area of BART stations or on BART trains*. All shared scooter terms and conditions and user agreement rules apply including service range areas. Where e-scooters are equipped with locks, BART requires scooters on BART property to be locked to a bike rack to keep scooters from blocking access to the stations.

* BART customers are welcome to bring their own personal folding electric kick-scooters on BART.
