#NotOneMoreGirl community activations planned throughout Oakland in April

The artists and advocates behind the community-driven initiative #NotOneMoreGirl will host a series of community activations in the Fruitvale, Deep East Oakland, and West Oakland neighborhoods in April. The #NotOneMoreGirl campaign is led by BIPOC youth and community organizations and centers girls and gender expansive youth to combat gender-based violence and sexual harassment on transit. 

Betti Ono, a 100% Black women-led space for art, culture, and community, has curated three public activations to engage impacted communities that are often overlooked. With youth speakers, spoken word poetry, musical performances and free healing kit giveaways with unique items for inner and outer safety, all members of the community are invited to attend and help play a role in creating safe and just passageways for girls and gender expansive youth. Resources to address gender-based violence and sexual harassment on BART will be provided, including resources in Spanish and Chinese, at each event.

BART has partnered with Alliance for Girls (AFG), and its members including Betti Ono, Black Girls Brilliance, The Unity Council’s Latinx Mentorship and Achievement Program, among other members to launch the Not One More Girl campaign.
