BPD raises money for cancer research with special uniform patches this fall
BART Police are raising money for cancer research with the sale of special uniform patches to be worn during September and October if officers choose. BART PD will recognize National Prostate Health Awareness Month in September with a light blue shoulder patch, and will observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with pink shoulder patches.
Officers will raise funds by buying patches for their uniforms or as keepsakes for $10 each. All expenses, including sewing the patches onto uniforms, will be paid by individual employees. There will be 1,000 patches in each color. In November, personnel will revert to their regular uniform patches.
All proceeds from the patch sales will be donated to the UCSF cancer immunotherapy program.
