Parking spaces closed for tree work at Rockridge 7/25-8/10

Update: 8/14 The parking spaces are returned to service.

Between July 25 to August 10, 2018*, we need to close approximately 18 permit and non-permit spaces in the side of the lot bounded by Shafter and College Avenues and 25 permit spaces and 5 ADA spaces in the side of the lot bounded by Keith and College Avenues (see map). We will have equipment and workers in that area grinding tree stumps and planting new trees between 8am and 4pm. Please anticipate some noise and partial closure of the left lane on Shafter and Keith Avenues.

BART conducted a Rockridge Station Hazard Tree Assessment by an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist in 2017. The results advises BART to remove hazard-trees adjacent to the parking lots at the station. The trees along Keith and Shafter Avenues were removed in January 2018. After receiving comments from the community, BART is planting new trees on Shafter Ave as part of Phase I work.  BART will plant the remaining trees on Keith Ave as part of Phase II work in early 2019.

There are 4 Car Share spaces that will be affected. These spaces will be temporarily relocated to stalls 890-893 which are immediately next to the closed section of the lot (see map). The affected ADA spaces will be temporarily relocated to stalls 1-4 and 94-97, as needed.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

*Dates of work are tentative, pending approval of traffic control plans from City of Oakland.
