Escalator swing gate modifications at SF stations 2/8-5/31/2018

Update: Now starting Thursday, February 8

Starting Monday, February 5, we will be working on the escalators in San Francisco stations (Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell Street, Civic Center, 16th Street/Mission, and 24th Street/Mission). The first escalator will be at Embarcadero Station. Each escalator we work on will be out of service 8 hours a day (from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm) while the work is being performed. The work should take approximately 2 to 4 days per escalator. Signs and safety barricades will be in place while the work is performed.

We are required by code to add a function to the security swing gates at the top of the escalators that will automatically shut off the escalator when the gates are closed.
