Parking spaces closed at Rockridge 1/8-12, 2018 for tree removal

During the week of January 8-12, 2018, we need to close approximately 18 permit and non-permit spaces in the side of the lot bounded by Shafter and College Avenues and 25 permit spaces and 5 ADA spaces in the side of the lot bounded by Keith and College Avenues (click here for map). We will have equipment and workers in that area removing hazardous trees between 8am and 4pm. Please anticipate some noise and partial closure of the left lane on Shafter and Keith Avenues.

BART conducted a Rockridge Station Hazard Tree Assessment by an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist in 2017. The results advises BART to remove hazard-trees adjacent to the parking lots at the station. The identified tree hazards include 16 red ironbark eucalyptus along Keith and Shafter Avenues. All of these trees will be removed during this time. BART is committed to replanting this area with appropriate street trees and will engage the community in the process of plan development. BART’s intention is to have the new trees planted by late spring of 2018 pending planting recommendations from the arborist and modifications to the irrigation system.

Community members will be invited to participate in a selection process for replacement trees on January 18, 2018 at 7:30 PM at the Rockridge Branch Library (5366 College Ave, Oakland, CA 94618).

There are 4 Car Share spaces that will be affected. These spaces will be temporarily relocated to stalls 890-893 which are immediately next to the closed section of the lot (see map). The affected ADA spaces will be temporarily relocated to stalls 1-4 and 94-97.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
