Expect delays between Berkeley and Richmond Stations Sundays--Update

Update 4/30/2014: Because the work crew was able to complete the replacement of the worn 3rd rail safely and ahead of schedule, there will be no work on the Richmond Line this Sunday.

We will be performing track maintenance on the Richmond Line for the next seven Sundays in April and May between the hours of 9am and 3pm beginning April 13. In order to complete this work we can only use one track between Berkeley and Richmond stations.

To keep delays to a minimum we will only operate reduced service between Downtown Berkeley Station and Richmond Station. Service North of Berkeley will operate every 40 minutes instead of the usual 20 minutes. A detailed schedule is attached. Trains between Berkeley and Fremont will operate on their regular Sunday schedule. Customers on board trains terminating at Berkeley will need to transfer to the following train and will encounter a delay of 20 minutes.

This work is being scheduled when it will affect the fewest number of customers. We will also maintain regular service on Sunday May 18 for the Annual Bay to Breakers Race in San Francisco.

This work will replace aging equipment and cannot be accomplished during the short time at night when we do not run service. We appreciate your patience as we work to keep providing you with the high level of safe, reliable service you rely on.
