Cancelled: Escalator out of service 3/26 16th Street Station

3/19/2014 THIS WORK HAS BEEN CANCELLED. 

We will be taking the escalator at the Northeast corner (near Burger King) of 16th and Mission streets out of service on Wednesday, March 26 in order to conduct needed repairs. We will be replacing the chain that moves the steps with a new type that we hope will be more reliable and cause the escalator to need service less frequently. Because we have to make modifications to accommodate the new chain, the escalator will be out of service somewhat longer than normal. What we learn may also help us make other escalators in the system more reliable. Our plan is to return the escalator to service by Thursday, May 15.

We apologize for the inconvenience. The adjacent stairway will remain open during the work. There is also an elevator located nearby on the same plaza.
