Temporary changes to bike rack location, one disabled parking space at Hayward

As part of our systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, construction crews are continuing to strengthen the elevated structures outside the Hayward Station to better withstand future earthquakes.

Beginning in early August 2013 work areas will be fenced in and you may see large equipment accessing the site such as dump trucks, backhoes and lifts. In the first phase of the project we will temporarily relocate one disabled parking space, as well as bicycle racks.

Please download the passenger bulletin (.pdf) for a diagram of these temporary changes.

The work will be done between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday through Saturday, with some night work and emergency work as necessary. During construction, pedestrian access in and around the station will change periodically. Please proceed around construction areas with caution and watch for signs with safety information and other notices. You can also expect temporary construction-related noise, dust, and traffic impacts. We will monitor noise and dust and work to minimize any inconveniences.

We realize that this will cause you inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this important maintenance work.

You can get BART Service Advisories (BSAs) on your phone. To sign up for BSAs, please visit us on the web at www.bart.gov/alerts. You may also text “BART go” to 468311 or call 511 to get up-to-date service information.

This work is a two-year project. A related project to strengthen structures inside the Hayward Station will occur in the future. As always, safety is BART’s top priority. Our aim is to strengthen BART as quickly as possible, while maintaining BART service.
