Baseball fans headed to AT&T Park encouraged to use Montgomery Street Station

Baseball fans headed to AT&T Park to see the Giants and Dodgers renew their rivalry are encouraged to use Montgomery Street Station instead of Embarcadero Station to begin their trip home after the game. It doesn’t cost any extra money and it just might save riders some hassle.

The fares from Montgomery Street are the same as from Embarcadero and for passengers using Muni Metro, it’s just one more stop. For those walking from the ballpark, Montgomery Street is a straight shot up 2nd Street.

Montgomery Street is a better option because crews will be working to sandblast portions of Embarcadero Station to improve its appearance.

BART wants to remind baseball fans that late-night, mid-week work in the Transbay Tube may affect BART service after 10 pm. BART began work in March to install heavy steel plates inside the tube to make it stronger against an earthquake. This strengthening work is expected to continue for several more months. 

The work is the latest in a series of earthquake safety improvements in the tube that have been going on since 2005. While most of BART’s infrastructure improvements haven’t affected baseball fans, this project will require some delays, estimated to be 15-20 minutes, in service after 10 pm mid-week as BART single-tracks trains to allow the work to take place safely.
