BART expands service for Monday night sports events

BART will run longer trains on Monday, Sept. 8, to accommodate the thousands of sports fans attending the SF Giants versus Arizona Diamondbacks match-up at AT&T Park and the Oakland Raiders versus Broncos game at McAfee Coliseum stadium. Both events start at 7:15 p.m. BART also will add trains after the Raiders game for fans leaving the Coliseum.

"More and more fans are choosing to ride BART instead of idling in gridlock burning expensive gas and hassling with parking once they finally arrive at the ball park," BART Board President Gail Murray said.

BART personnel will be selling flash passes and round-trip BART tickets from tables at three stations to help ease demand at ticket machines. BART will have two tables at the Dublin/Pleasanton Station and a table at both the El Cerrito Del Norte and Fremont Stations on Monday, Sept. 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. BART staff will sell flash passes to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station for football fans and regular round trip blue BART tickets for Giants fans headed to the downtown San Francisco stations.

"The last time the Raiders and the Giants played during the week BART carried nearly 386,000 passengers, so to accommodate sports fans on Monday we are scheduling ticket tables at three stations," Murray added. BART officials suggest riders buy round-trip tickets to avoid lines before the ride home.
