Take BART to the SF Pride Celebration
2007 marks the 37th anniversary of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade. This year's theme is "Pride, Not Prejudice" and the event will be held Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, 24 in the Civic Center of downtown San Francisco, just steps from the Civic Center BART station.
With over 200 parade contingents, 300 exhibitors, and 19 stages and venues, the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration and Parade is the largest LGBT gathering in the nation. The free two-day event is packed with a wide variety of vendors, artists, music in a variety of genres, performers, dance stages and venues, as well as a family garden where kids can play. Visit www.sfpride.org for more information, including a full schedule of performers and line-up of celebrity guests and Grand Marshals.
Plan your trip on the BART QuickPlanner and travel to Montgomery Street, Powell Street, or Civic Center stations to be right along the parade route!
BART TO PROVIDE LONGER TRAINS FOR PARADE-GOERS ON SUNDAY
BART will provide longer trains to accommodate the crowds attending the Pride Parade and Celebration on Sunday. In addition to the longer trains, BART will provide additional event trains before and after the celebration. Trains will operate on a regular Sunday schedule. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. at Market and Beale Streets. The celebration is scheduled to end at 7 p.m.
THE "BARTMOBILE" WILL ONCE AGAIN APPEAR IN PRIDE PARADE
The Pride Parade will once again feature the BARTMobile, a self-powered miniature version of a BART car, decked-out in one of its festive special event hats. The BARTMobile made its Pride Parade debut in 2004 and has been a huge hit with the crowds ever since.
EXTRA SERVICE FOR YANKEES/GIANTS INTERLEAGUE SERIES
BART will provide longer trains Saturday and Sunday during the interleague baseball series between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. Sunday afternoon, BART will also have additional trains for baseball fans attending the game.
TICKET TABLES WILL EASE DEMAND AT MACHINES
BART personnel will be selling BART tickets from tables at selected stations to help ease demand at ticket machines. A table with BART staff selling tickets and flash passes to Downtown San Francisco will be open at Dublin/Pleasanton Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to assist riders headed to the Pride Parade and baseball game. Another table with staff selling tickets only will be open at Civic Center from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. to assist riders returning from the Pride Celebration.
BART officials suggest riders buy round-trip tickets to avoid lines before the ride home.
