No 24-hour service on the weekend of June 10th

BART will resume its normal service schedule Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 and trains will not run during the overnight hours like they did last weekend.

Caltrans funded last weekend's 24-hour BART service so that it would be able to shutdown the bridge to do overnight retrofit work. Caltrans originally thought it would take two consecutive weekends to complete the overnight retrofit work. However, Caltrans was able to finish the work faster than it anticipated, so BART will not need to run 24 hour service this coming weekend, June 10 and 11.

WHY BART DOESN'T HAVE 24 HOUR SERVICE
BART does not run 24-hour service on a regular basis because many safety sensitive, essential and California Public Utilities Commission mandated maintenance work can only take place when trains are not running.

If BART were to offer 24 hour service on a regular basis, BART would not be able to ensure the safety and reliability of the railroad for passengers.

MYTH: "BART IS THE ONLY MAJOR SUBWAY THAT DOESN'T RUN 24 HOURS"
Contrary to popular belief, the London Underground, the Paris metro system and Washington, DC Metro do not run 24 hours per day. In fact, BART has longer hours of operation than those subway systems.
