Public invited to attend BART's Martin Luther King birthday tribute

This year's theme: "Rediscovering Precious Values: Called to Serve"

On Wednesday, January 11, BART will hold a public celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday from Noon to 1 p.m. at BART Headquarters in the second floor Kaiser Building Auditorium located at 300 Lakeside Drive in Oakland.

The keynote speaker for the event will be former U.S. Congressman Ronald V. Dellums, who is now a candidate in the Oakland mayoral race. BART Board President Carole Ward Allen, BART Board Vice President Lynette Sweet and BART General Manager Thomas E. Margro are also scheduled to attend.

The Ben-Oni Orchestra will provide musical entertainment and James Archie of BART's Maintenance and Engineering Department will be the Master of Ceremonies. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Committee with support from BART's Media & Public Affairs Department is sponsoring the tribute, entitled "Rediscovering Precious Values: Called to Serve."

BART will serve a light lunch.
