BART open late New Year's Eve, trains to run until approximately 3 a.m.

BART to operate Saturday schedule, standby trains to accommodate crowds

BART will be open until approximately 3 a.m. on New Year's Eve night/New Year's morning. That's a full three hours later than normal so partygoers can ring in 2006 and then jump on BART for a safe ride home.

All New Year's Eve day BART will operate on a Saturday schedule, meaning trains will run on 20 minute intervals all day. Additionally trains will be between six to 10 cars in length all day. However, on New Year's Eve night/New Year's morning train service will end three hours later than what the printed Saturday timetable states.

TO DETERMINE WHEN THE LAST TRAIN LEAVES YOUR STATION ON NEW YEAR'S EVE NIGHT:
1. Find your departure station on the Saturday schedule in the "Fares & Schedules" brochure or on bart.gov
2. Find the last scheduled departure time
3. Add three hours

For example, if the Saturday schedule says the last train leaves your departure station at 12:30 a.m., then on New Year's Eve night, the last train will actually leave at 3:30 a.m.

EXTRA TRAINS FOR FIREWORKS CROWDS
Immediately after the fireworks show ends in San Francisco, BART will have extra trains on hand to help carry the influx of people headed home.

NEW YEAR'S DAY SERVICE
BART will operate normal Sunday service on New Year's Day.
