Government and Community Relations is dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials and communities across BART’s five-county service area.  

LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

The Local Government and Community Relations Team serves as BART liaisons to city/county elected bodies, community-based organizations, and businesses. Team members represent BART at various meetings and participate in community events and activities.

FEDERAL AND STATE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS

The Legislative Affairs Team oversees BART’s federal and state advocacy efforts. This includes development of the District’s annual federal and state legislative program, which guides our work in Washington, DC and Sacramento.  Team members work closely with federal and state policymakers to influence transit legislation, appropriations, and regulatory matters that may impact BART operations.
