Elevator out of service at Civic Center Station until 4/7/23

UPDATE, March 10:

The concourse to platform levels elevator at Civic Center Station is out of service due to failure of an A/C drive. It is now expected to be back in service by Friday, April 7, 2023.

UPDATE, March 6:

The concourse to platform levels elevator at Civic Center Station went back into service ahead of schedule following cable replacement on Monday, February 27, 2023.

Unfortunately, it was taken out of service again on March 4, 2023 due to a failure of an A/C drive in the elevator controller that has had extensive run time.  The unit is now expected to be back in service by Friday, March 17, 2023.

The concourse to platform levels elevator at Civic Center Station was taken out of service on February 14th for emergency replacement of two faulty cables. The elevator is expected to be back in service by Friday, March 3, 2023.

This is the only concourse to BART and Muni platform levels elevator at Civic Center Station. Riders who rely on the elevator will not be able to access the Civic Center platforms from the concourse or street level, nor exit the Civic Center platforms to get to the concourse or street levels.

We recommend riders use the Powell Street Station as an alternative. Powell Street Station is .04 miles away from Civic Center Station. Riders can use Muni at street level to travel to and from the Civic Center and Powell Street stations.

To check if an elevator is in service before arriving at a station, please call 510-834-LIFT (510-834-5438) or 888-2-ELEVAT (888-235-3828), or sign up for elevator status alerts at www.bart.gov/elevators.

If you arrive at any station and find that the elevator(s) are out of service, you may contact a Station Agent to arrange for a lift van to take you to a nearby station with a working elevator.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
