BART reminds Giants fans to be aware of possible mid-week late-night service delays

There are 16 home games left in the Giants regular season that fall on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night, so BART wants to remind baseball fans that late-night, mid-week work in the Transbay Tube may affect BART service after 10 pm.  Another tip:  Use Montgomery Street Station.  Not only will it be less crowded than Embarcadero Station, you can connect with MUNI there or take an easy walk to AT&T Park via Second Street.

In March, BART began work installing heavy steel plates inside the tube to make it stronger against an earthquake and expects this strengthening work to go on for 12 more months. The work is the latest in a series of earthquake safety improvements in the tube that have been going on since 2005. While most of BART’s infrastructure improvements haven’t affected loyal Giants fan, this project will require some delays, estimated to be 15-20 minutes, in service after 10 pm mid-week as BART single-tracks trains to allow the work under the bay to take place safely.

Hard-core fans who take BART and love to stay until the end of the game can keep track of potential delays by reading Passenger Bulletins or signing up for BART Service Advisories at www.bart.gov/advisories.

(Updated May 22 to reduce number of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday home games by one to 16 as of May 22 instead of 17 as of May 21 on previous version of story.)
