BART expands distribution sites for Senior Clipper cards

BART is expanding the number of locations throughout the Bay Area that can accept applications and issue discounted Clipper cards In an effort to make the all-in-one transit cards more accessible to senior citizens,.

Senior citizens can now visit one of the eight MyTransitPlus kiosks located in the downtown San Francisco BART stations: Embarcadero, Montgomery Street, Powell Street and Civic Center; and in the East Bay, the Richmond, Coliseum/Oakland Airport, Bay Fair and Walnut Creek BART stations.

Seniors 65+ years old will need to bring a completed application form, which can be found on the Clipper website, clippercard.com, along with a photo ID and proof of age to the kiosk.  Acceptable proof of age includes a driver’s license, State ID card, passport, alien registration/permanent resident card, matricula consular/consular ID card, SF City ID card, or a birth certificate. The senior Clipper cards have no stored cash value, but cash value may be added to the cards at one of the MyTransitPlus kiosks.

“Discounted Clipper cards can still be obtained at various transit agency ticketing and administrative offices as well as the Concord Police Department, but now Seniors have more options that may be closer to home,” BART Board President John McPartland said.

Customers can visit www.bart.gov/tickets/sales/retailsales.aspx for each kiosk’s operating hours.  MyTransitPlus kiosks also sell, consolidate and exchange BART tickets.

Those seeking the youth (ages 5 to 18 yrs old) Clipper card may also turn in completed applications along with acceptable proof of age at any MyTransitPlus kiosk and the card will be mailed to the applicant by Clipper.

Clipper is accepted for fare payment on eight transit agencies: BART, AC Transit, SFMuni, Caltrain, SamTrans, Santa Clara Valley Transit (VTA), Golden Gate buses and ferries and the San Francisco Bay Ferry. For more information, please call MyTransitPlus at (415) 399-9669.
