BART Police arrest suspect in copper cable theft

Cable, tools and drugs among evidence recovered

During the early morning hours of December 8, 2011, members of the BART Police Department began an operation with the intention of serving an arrest warrant for Dennis McGuire (07/19/59), a subject with a lengthy criminal history, suspected of being involved in thefts of copper cable from the BART system.

During this operation, BART PD officers arrested McGuire outside his residence at 4267 24th Street, San Francisco. Once McGuire was in custody, the officers served a search warrant at his residence. Additional evidence of metal theft, including lengths of cable suspected of being stolen from BART, was recovered during the service of this search warrant. Additionally, small amounts of illegal drugs were recovered.

McGuire was taken into custody for multiple felony theft related charges and was booked at the San Francisco Jail.

BART Police Department detectives are following up on additional leads and the investigation into McGuire’s illegal activity is continuing.
