Traffic advisory for Oakland Airport Connector construction

The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is currently in construction on the Oakland Airport Connector (OAC) project.  Work is scheduled to begin on the Hegenberger Road section of the project, which includes constructing the foundation for the elevated guideway. The work will require changes to traffic lanes along Hegenberger Road, between Hegenberger Loop and Pardee Drive, and motorists should be aware of the following conditions:

  •  A large crane near the roadway
  •  Pile driving
  •  Lane reductions
  •  Temporary concrete barriers
  •  Construction vehicles entering and exiting traffic

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 15, 2011, and will continue through summer 2013. General work hours are Monday through Saturday, 7:00am to 7:00 pm.  Motorists are advised to use caution, reduce speeds and anticipate delays in the construction area. Motorists traveling to and from the Oakland International Airport (OAK) are advised to use 98th Avenue. Customers accessing the businesses along the Hegenberger corridor will be able to access every business without any significant difficulty.

The OAC, scheduled for completion in 2014, will run between Coliseum Station and OAK.  The automated system will operate on an elevated 3.2 mile track, offering fast, reliable and sustainable transportation for thousands of annual travelers as well as for those who work at OAK.
