Passenger advisory on planned demonstrations in Oakland this weekend

We want to let you know that two separate demonstrations are being planned in the City of Oakland this weekend. One is scheduled to occur at the Fruitvale BART Station on Friday, October 22, and the other is planned to occur near 12th Street / Oakland City Center Station on Saturday, October 23.

BART is extremely experienced and has been very successful in dealing with all kinds of protests, including anti-war, immigration and student demonstrations. We have plans in place, we continually coordinate with other law enforcement agencies, and we are prepared for virtually any protest scenario.

Our first priority is to ensure the safety and security of BART customers and employees. Our second priority is to keep trains moving on time. If you'd like to avoid these demonstrations you may want to consider using other BART stations or making alternate travel plans.
