City-owned parking lots near Union City Station to begin charging fees

Dear Customer:

To meet the increased parking demand near BART, the City of Union City has developed a parking program, which includes implementing parking meter parking, establishing parking permits, and creating a parking enforcement unit. If you park in the city-owned lots off of 11th Street, or on city streets, please be aware that beginning Monday, March 22, 2010, the City of Union City will begin charging fees to use those lots and for street parking. Union City Parking Options
The least expensive option for the frequent BART rider is to purchase an Area S Parking Permit offered by Union City. Area S Parking Permits cost $120 per calendar quarter and may be used in Parking Lot 2 and the J Street Parking Lot, or on Meyers Drive, 12th Street and northbound Alvarado-Niles Road. Order your Area S Parking Permit now at www.ucparking.org. The least expensive option for the occasional BART rider is Pay by Space in Parking Lot 1. Parking is $0.50 an hour or $3.00 a day. BART Parking Options
BART operates the parking lot the west side of the Union City BART Station entrance. A portion of the BART lot is reserved for BART parking permit holders during morning commute hours.
