BART will operate a regular Saturday schedule - many trains will be longer to accommodate crowds
On Saturday, February 23, 2008 BART will operate on a regular Saturday schedule. BART reminds riders that the new schedule in effect offers 33% more service after 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and all the time on Sunday.
"Last year, a record-breaking 229,583 Lunar New Year celebrants used BART to watch the Dragon Parade," said BART Board President Gail Murray. "So, to help celebrate the Year of the Brown Rat, BART will accommodate the extra riders by adding more cars than usual to trains, especially around the time of the parade."
TAKE BART TO LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVITIES
Saturday's Dragon Parade and the Chinatown Community Street Fair are two major Lunar New Year festivities scheduled this weekend in San Francisco. The street fair is scheduled for 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday.
"Last year, riders celebrated Chinese New Year on BART instead of hassling with congested city streets or paying for parking," said BART Board Director James Fang. "The Chinatown street fair is an easy walk from the Powell and Montgomery Street stations; and you can get off at the Embarcadero, Montgomery or Powell Street stations to enjoy the parade. To avoid crowds after the celebration, we suggest that you buy a round-trip ticket. We hope everyone has a safe holiday as they celebrate the Year of the Rat."
