The buzz of the art world is coming to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art! SFMOMA is proud to be the only west coast venue for one of the most spectacular and anticipated exhibitions of the year-Picasso and American Art.
Take BART to Montgomery Street Station and you're just a short walk from the Museum. Plan your trip using bart.gov's online QuickPlanner. SFMOMA is located at 151 3rd Street, between Mission and Howard streets. For museum information, visit sfmoma.org.
On view February 23 to May 28, 2007, Picasso and American Art provides an innovative look at Pablo Picasso's impact on modern art in the United States. The presentation features works by Picasso alongside responses by some of his most celebrated American peers and successors-among them Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jackson Pollock-underscoring the lasting imprint he left on art of the 20th century.
In conjunction with Picasso and American Art, SFMOMA also will present the exhibition A Hidden Picasso. During conservation work on Picasso's Scène de rue (Street Scene), SFMOMA staff used X-rays to reveal another image beneath the work's surface. Come to the Koret Visitor Education Center to learn about this fascinating discovery and the methods used to find it.
